As the world orbits around the sun, so too does Shandong Taishan orbit the Earth. This beautiful mountain range in northern China is home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes on our planet. But did you know that this majestic peak also has its own resident astronaut? Her name is Liu Yang and she spent her time playing on Shandong Taishan during her training for spaceflight.
Liu Yang was selected as one of the three female astronauts for the Shenzhou X mission in 2013. She underwent rigorous training to prepare for her journey into space. The training involved physical challenges such as long hours of weightlessness and high-altitude training, but it was also mentally challenging. Liu Yang had to learn how to control her body without the support of gravity, which can be both physically and emotionally exhausting.

And finally, after months of training, Liu Yang made history by becoming the first Chinese woman to travel to space. She spent six days in orbit aboard the Shenzhou X spacecraft, conducting scientific experiments and taking photos from space. While her time in space may have been short, it was a testament to her determination and perseverance.
Today, Liu Yang continues to inspire others with her story. She serves as a role model for young girls who aspire to become astronauts or any other career they dream of pursuing.
