Guoan FC have announced the signing of Chinese international midfielder Liu Xiang from Guangdong Shenhua FC for the remainder of the season. Liu has been a key player for Guoan in recent years and is now joining the club on loan.
Liu, who was born in China but played his youth football in Germany, made his debut for Guoan in the Chinese Super League in 2018. He scored six goals in seven league matches before being released by Shanghai Shenhua in June 2020.
Guoan FC have struggled to find a suitable replacement for Liu over the past few seasons, with several other players having failed to perform well enough at the highest level. However, Liu's skills and experience make him an ideal addition to Guoan's squad.
The 24-year-old has already impressed with his performances in the Chinese Super League this season, scoring five goals in eight games. He also had a successful debut in the Asian Cup last year, where he helped his country reach the quarter-finals.
Guoan FC will be hoping that Liu can continue his form and help their team to achieve success this season. They have already shown some promising signs so far, and it remains to be seen whether they can continue to progress as they look to win promotion to the top tier of Chinese football next season.
